Rapper The Game raising money for family of slain 7-year-old Talaib Pecante

7-year old Talaib Pecante was shot to death while waiting in a car with his mother on Monday night.

Los Angeles rapper The Game and other celebs are raising money to fund a funeral for slain 7-year-old Talaib Pecante, who was felled by suspected gang gunfire in a drive-by on Monday.
The Game told TMZ Live he raised $7,000 in an hour to help the murdered tyke's family — most of it from the leaders of the city's most notorious gangs.
"This is a seven year old boy. My son is six. And I have a son 10. And I couldn't imagine living life without them, period," The Game, 34, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, told TMZ on Wednesday.
"But three weeks before Christmas? There's something wrong with that."
When pressed on the ethics of raising money from Bloods, Crips and other violent thugs, the one-time gang member said the fund was part of a tentative plan for a citywide cease-fire among crews during the holidays.
"You can say stop the violence, but 'stop' anything has to start somewhere," the rapper said. "If we tell everybody to stop the violence at least during the holiday season, what you do is make sure no other kid gets shot."
"Let's focus on the fact that somebody's taking money out of their pocket and donating it to a positive cause," the "How We Do" rapper added.

Rapper The Game told TMZ Live he raised $7,000 in an hour to help cover the boy's funeral costs, and was continuing to raise funds.

"One step at a time," he said.
The rapper has promoted cease-fire on Twitter and Instagram using #ceasefireLA. He said he hadn't set a fundraising goal.
Talaib was shot in the back on Monday night while sitting in a car with his mother in the central L.A. neighborhood of Mid City.
Cops say four men in a white vehicle sprayed the car with more than two dozen bullets.
So far, there are no suspects.
Grieving neighbors say gang shootings have plagued the area.
Loved ones said other A-listers have rallied to support the slain 2nd grader's mother, who was also shot but survived.
The boy's football coach said Philadelphia Eagle and L.A. native DeSean Jackson also donated funds to the family.

The boy's football coach said Philadelphia Eagle and L.A. native DeSean Jackson also donated funds to the family.

The boy's football coach, Damon Fields, said Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and L.A. native DeSean Jackson also chipped in to cover funeral costs, local CBS reported.
"Multiple celebrities…came forward," Fields told the station.
Talaib played football in a youth league sponsored by Snoop Lion, a.k.a. Snoop Dogg.
On Thursday, the Long Beach native tweeted, "Heartbroken by the loss of this lil man, Talib Pecantte, who played on the (Snoop Youth Football League) team. #nogunsallowed."
This isn't the first time The Game has raised funds for a family in need.
He runs a charity called The Robin Hood Foundation and, in September, he donated $10,000 to the family of a 6-year-old who was gunned down in front of her California home.
Weeks later, he and rapper Drake donated more than $20,000 to an Ohio woman who lost her family in a house fire.
